* Log Cabin, Sept. 4, 1914 - “New Post Office on Walnut Street - Inspector’s Secret Gallery, a long narrow gallery extending across above the main work room with only small ‘peep’ holes or openings with black shutters, enabling an inspector to see every employee in the office without himself being seen. A passage leads from the gallery to the basement. An inspector may therefore enter the secret passage either from the basement or from the second floor, without being seen by any office employee.” (Present site of Whalen’s Real Estate)
