* Cynthiana Democrat, June 29, 1950 - “Fire, which started shortly before midnight, Friday, June 23, gutted five buildings on the east side of Walnut Street’s congested business area. Swept by the flames were a three-story brick furniture store, liquor dispensary, restaurants, hardware company warehouse and Disabled American Veteran’s clubroom, all of which are located beteen Bridge and Pike streets.”
