Approximately 1,200 vocalists across the state competed for slots in the Kentucky Music Educators Association’s 2013 High School All-State Choirs. Students in grades 10-12 auditioned in quartets – all performing the same piece, sung a cappella; they also had to sight-sing.
Only 15 percent of a school’s choral enrollment is allowed to audition, so many schools hold preliminary tryouts. KMEA chose the top 560 students and assigned them to one of three choruses: a mixed group of men and women, a women’s choir and a men’s choir. Our HCHS representatives will travel to Louisville Wednesday February 6th and promptly begin rehearsals. Their performance will be Friday February 8th at Whitney Hall at 8:00pm.
Representing HCHS are:
Evan Clifford (12)- TTBB Men’s Chorus
John King (11) - TTBB Men’s Chorus
Casey Newcomb (10)- SATB Mixed Chorus
Derek Nunnelley (10) - TTBB Men’s Chorus
Devon Williams (11)- TTBB Men’s Chorus
