It was 11 a.m. on Oct. 31, 2008, that Sgt. Daniel W. Wallace, a soldier with the 201st Engineer Battalion, was killed in Afghanistan.
One year later, at 11 a.m., Sgt. Wallace was honored in a memorial service in Cynthiana.
A tree was planted and a memorial stone was unveiled Saturday morning at Flat Run Veterans’ Park as family, friends and fellow soldiers remembered the young guardsman.
For more about Sgt. Wallace and the memorial service, see this week’s Cynthiana Democrat, which will be available on newsstands Wednesday afternoon.
