Mark Mattmiller has announced his candidacy for the office of mayor for the city of Cynthiana.
Mattmiller is currently serving the city as Commissioner of Public Finance and Public Property. He is the mayor pro tem for the board of commissioners as well. He has held these positions since January 2009.
Mattmiller received his bachelor’s, master’s and Educational Rank One from the University of Kentucky. He has been an educator for the Harrison County public schools for 34 years. Prior to beginning his career in education, Mattmiller was employed by Ashland Oil Inc. as a district manager in their marketing division.
He is married to Linda LeBus Mattmiller and they have five adult children and nine grandchildren. Their children are Scott Mattmiller, Terry Herrington, Thad Mattmiller, Scott Herrington and Beth Herrington.
Mattmiller said he believes the current Cynthiana Board of Commissioners has made great strides in turning the city in a more positive direction.
“Some old problems have been solved, some new initiatives introduced and a lot of hard work still remains,” Mattmiller said.
He said he hopes to be a part of continuing the positive momentum.
