The 2012 installment of the Harrison County Marching Thorobreds competition field show features music made famous by the movies that portray Ian Fleming’s suave and dapper super-spy, James Bond.
“The music has been a great vehicle for us,” said band director John Merz. “We really enjoy playing it.”
The best part, Merz continues, is developing the show visually.
“Since we are not portraying any particular Bond movie, we are not boxed into any one idea. We are continually trying to add little visual snippets throughout the show to portray the essence of the character.”
The band participated in the Grant County Marching Band Competition on Saturday, Sept. 29. They finished first place in their class and earned a spot to perform among the highest scoring bands in finals. The band had an even stronger finals performance and finished third overall.
The band travels to Simon Kenton High School this weekend to participate in a Mid-States Band Association competition, and will perform at 2:15 p.m. in preliminary competition.
