The 2014 Farm Bill has opened the way for farmers to recoup some of their livestock losses due to weather calamities that have happened since October 2011.
According to Janelle Gardner, County Executive Director of the Farm Service Agency in Cynthiana and Falmouth, the deadline to apply for disaster assistance through the Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP) through the Farm Bill has not been reached.
