Harrison County Farm Bureau participated in the Food Check-Out Week Feb. 16-22.
The annual campaign commemorates America’s healthy, nutritious, abundant and affordable food supply.
According to the USDA, on average, Americans spend approximately 11 percent of their disposable income on food. When applied to the calendar, it only takes about 40 days for most consumers to earn enough income to purchase their food supply for an entire year. That is a positive message, especially when you consider the average American has to work until May before their taxes are paid.
