The Kentucky Blood Center is issuing an emergency appeal for blood donors due to a swift decline in donations and a winter storm warning projected to cripple the blood supply.
Weather has already forced the cancellation of multiple blood drives in the past 10 days, causing 350 pints of blood to go uncollected. Transfusions have outpaced blood donations by more than 250 pints in the past 72 hours at hospitals served by KBC.
