The Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) Auxiliary recently held its spring luncheon for gift shop volunteers and auxiliary members.
Since the Auxiliary has been a long time supporter of the HMH Scholarship Program, an informative program highlighting 40 years of this ongoing program was provided by previous scholarship recipients.
Julia Fulton, scholarship coordinator, introduced Anastasia Rains, a radiology technician, and Eugonda Fryman, a registered nurse, both of whom are employed at HMH.
These young ladies spoke on the importance of the scholarship program and their ability to further their education due to the continuous efforts of the auxiliary members.
In addition to maintaining the HMH Gift Shop, the auxiliary hosts various other fundraising efforts to support the HMH scholarship program as well as other special needs of the hospital. Those activities include bake and craft sales, purse sales, jewelry sales, scrub sales, and our newest event, which is scheduled for June 8, is a Cash for Gold fundraiser.
Officers elected at the spring luncheon for the 2011-12 year are: Gaile Ferguson, president; Theresa Philpott, president-elect; Carolyn Miles, treasurer; Janice K. Doan, recording secretary; Nancy May, corresponding secretary; Mary Jane Bell, gift shop coordinator; Judy Letcher, gift shop buyer; Bonnie Teater, publicity; Vivian Smith, historian; Virginia McKinney and Christy Hall, ways and means.
Membership to the HMH Auxiliary is open to all members of the community. Individuals interested in the joining may contact any of the officers listed or by calling HMH at 234.2300.
