Harrison County High’s grapplers began the 2009-2010 season with an impressive 57-18 beating of the Madison Central Indians in Richmond Wednesday night. HCHS won 11 of the 14 bouts, four by forfeit. Madison Central is in only the second year of wrestling and Coach Russ Riegel feels that they will be a formidable opponent in coming years.
That was not the case Wednesday, however. Madison Central was hosting a tri-meet, first matching up with Bourbon County then with the Breds. The Thorobreds had four wrestlers win by falls. Senior Josh Moss won the 140 lb class in 2:46; senior Chris Brunker the 145 lb class in 3:05; sophomore Shawn Tobin the 152 lb class in 1:39; and junior Brandon Barnett won the 189 lb class in the fastest time of the day a mere 44 seconds.
