Harrison County schools' beef is not part of the major recall for nearly 143 million pounds of raw and frozen beef products.
According to Tammy Klapheke, Harrison County district food director, the recall is for that beef which is a commodity product used only for processing.
School districts can use their commodity money to have their beef processed by another company into burgers, meatballs, sloppy joes, etc.
Harrison County does not do this with beef, Klapheke said.
