We had our annual Spring luncheon at the Vault. The food was delicious. Pat Slade gave the welcome and reviewed the scope of last year’s projects. We had a very fun and fulfilling year.
Our garden handbook is dedicated to Susan Dumaine, who passed away earlier this year. Sue Sims did a great job putting the book together. We reminisced about Susan. She sure will be missed. Karen won the mint julep cup which is given for the most exhibit points. We need to get members to bring more exhibits to meetings this year.
We had a drawing for the friendship Garden and Karen won that also. She has a rock garden and can accommodate both shade and sun loving plants. We are to bring the plants to the April meeting.
Our members were challenged to participate in the Harrison County Fair flower show. There are lots of categories to exhibit and there are monetary rewards to boot. We talked about giving extra club exhibit points for the fair exhibits.
The decorations for our luncheon were gorgeous and Pat made a collage with wood hyacinths and daffodils. They smelled heavenly. We each received a cement butterfly which we are to paint and put in our gardens for a gift.
