James Bandy who was indicted on sex-related crimes in February changed his plea to guilty on June 23.

Bandy was scheduled to go to trial on July 16.

Bandy’s guilty plea was the result of amending three of the nine charges and dismissing one.

The amended charges were first degree sodomy and first degree rape (two counts). Those were amended to the criminal intent charges in each of the three counts.

He pleaded guilty to sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old; criminal intent to commit first degree sodomy; criminal intent to commit first degree rape (two counts) on a child less than 12 years old; bribing a witness by offering money to an individual he believed might be called as a witness; first degree unlawful transaction with a minor for inducing a person under 16 years old to engage in illegal controlled substances, more specifically to ingest cocaine;  second degree sodomy for having deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 14 years old; and incest for having sexual intercourse with a person less than 18 years old whom he knew was a family member.

A persistent felony offender charge was dismissed.

The Commonwealth recommended 15 years in prison. Formal sentencing has been scheduled for Sept. 1 at 9 a.m., in Harrison Circuit Court.
