To the editor:
Once again this community has come to the call of being good Samaritans. When I think they can not do more than they have in the past, they surprise me. This year, you have just blown me out of the water. I do not believe I can praise you enough.
Sacrificial giving was seen this past Christmas season from schools, businesses, churches, clubs and individuals through food, money and giving of their time. A group of ladies from 3M met one Saturday morning and bagged cookies, some men from 3M and the Housing Authority moved all the food from the Food Pantry to the Presbyterian church and about 25 to 30 volunteers from different churches made up 413 boxes and when it was over, different men that were around with trucks moved the remaining food back to the food pantry. Three hundred and sixty of these boxes were distributed and these boxes included everything for a holiday meal, including a turkey and some extra goodies.
With your generosity it has helped us at the Food Pantry to start the new year in pretty good shape. This is an on going project and we can’t let down on our giving. With your help, many will not go hungry. But there is also another aspect of this project.
The Food Pantry is under the umbrella of the Ministerial Association, which also helps individuals with utilities, medicines and medical expenses, funerals, kerosene and gas. It would also help if you could help this association. We work in the background and our money only comes from offering from special church services or individual gifts.
I do not like to sound as I am begging, but I guess I am. There are many needs in our community that need our attention. Send all gifts made out to the Harrison County Ministerial Association or to the Harrison County Food Pantry to me at the following address: 204 Shimfessel Ct., Cynthiana, KY 41031.
Remember each gift is tax deductible and will be used very wisely. Honor God with your giving and He will honor you.
Margaret Watson,
Harrison County Food Pantry
