The Cynthiana Police Department is continuing to investigate a bank robbery which occurred Monday morning.
Chief Steve Muntz said a masked man walked into the Farmers National Bank branch on Oddville Avenue around 10 a.m. Monday, jumped over the counter and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash.
No weapons were used or implied in the robbery, said Muntz.
The suspect, described as a white male with blue eyes and a medium build (around six feet tall), was last seen fleeing eastward on foot.
Muntz said it was possible the suspect got into a car and left at some point.
Officers from CPD and the Harrison County Sheriffs office combed the area looking for the alleged robber and for clues.
Ptl. Alan Judy, who is heading the investigation for CPD, said while the department is keeping a closer watch on local banks, employees are also being more vigilant.
Its kind of working both ways, he said of the extra scrutiny.
Judy said the public in general can be a big help by watching whats going on around them.
The more vigilant people are, the better chance were going to have, he said.
Anyone with information, no matter how small the detail, is encouraged to call CPD at 234-7100.
Eastside Elementary School, which is just down the road from the bank was on lock down for an hour and a half during the search.
