Five indicted on federal charges

Five individuals from Cynthiana were indicted by a federal grand jury in U.S. District Court on federal bank robbery charges.

The four men and one woman are facing charges relative to six bank robberies, four of which were in Harrison County, with a total cache of $36,000, according to a Tuesday press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Kentucky in Lexington.

Those named in indictments are Jeffrey Allen Pratt, 20, Miguel David Ayala, 29, Steven Wayne Price, 19, and Kristin Marie Welte, 21. The federal grand jury alleges that the individuals robbed or assisted in the six bank robberies. Joshua Wayne Griffieth was indicted as an accessory to the Aug. 18 robbery at Farmers National Bank in Cynthiana, The indictment accuses Griffieth of preventing Pratt's apprehension by authorities.
