The Licking Valley Campus of MCTC held its first class for the Associate Degree in Nursing in the brand new Health Science Wing on campus on Tuesday, Aug. 14.
“There is so much joy around here these days that it is easy to forget what serious work these young women will be doing now and in the future. They will be in the business of saving lives. What an awesome responsibility. As educators here at LVC, we strive to give them the very best instruction, the best equipment and the best hands-on training available in the field today,” said LVC Campus Director K. Bruce Florence.
The Licking Valley Campus Associate Degree Nursing Program attended Fundamentals of Nursing 101 with instructor and program coordinator, Deborah Williams RN, MSN.
“We are extremely excited and appreciative for the opportunity to provide nursing education in this community,” Williams said. “The support of the community and the college has made this dream a reality.”
The Associate Degree Nursing Program prepares graduates to provide and manage patient care and to become valuable members within the discipline of nursing.
Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.
After being accepted to the program, students will spend four semesters completing the core curriculum. Registered nurses qualify for job opportunities in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, child care centers, educational facilities, physician’s offices, etc.
