Harrison County’s first baby of the year at Harrison Memorial Hospital waited nearly two days after the new year before making her arrival.
Ma’Layah Ray Pennington was born at 8:41 p.m. on Jan. 2 to Melissa Koutz and Brandon Ray Pennington, Cynthiana.
At 18.5 inches long, she weighed 5 pounds and 14 ounces and was delivered by Dr. Derek Clarke.
Little Ma’Layah has one sister, Mallory Welte, two aunts, Lauren Tillman and Haley Stratton, and one uncle, Tory Pennington.
Her paternal grandparents are Mary Cain, Gary Cain and Roberta Williams.
Her great-great-grandfather is Goble Roy Proffitt.
David Koutz is the maternal grandfather.
Ma’Layah and her family receive several gifts from area businesses as the First Baby of the Year.
