Firefighter enters not guilty plea to theft charges

A volunteer fireman has entered a not guilty plea for the alleged theft of equipment from the Harrison County Fire Department.

Anthony Carson, 26, entered a not guilty in Harrison District Court Monday to charges of theft by unlawful taking filed against him after he alledgedly took several pieces of equipment belonging to the Harrison County Fire District.

According to the Harrison County Sheriff’s report, Carson is alleged to have taken nearly $10,000 of equipment belonging to the fire districts between May 1, 2012, and Jan. 30, 2013. 

 A public defender has been assigned to represent Carson in the pending litigation. Carson will appear in court on April 22, for a preliminary hearing.
