Interviews for the vacant Harrison County Volunteer Fire Department chief will be held on Aug. 1.
Interviews are being held by the Harrison County Fire Tax Board to decide who will fill the vacant position of chief, a position formerly held for 31 years by the late chief Charles Carson Jr., of the Harrison County Volunteer Fire Department.
According to board member and Harrison County Volunteer Fire Capt. Jamie McCarty, the board has elected to pursue a candidate internally before searching outside the department.
