Farmer's Market offers fresh choices to local consumers

In Harrison County there are many unknown or underused treasures. Among them is the Harrison County Farmer's Market.

Started eight years ago by a group of farmers who wanted to provide you, the citizens of Harrison County, with produce that is much fresher than that which is trucked in from great distances, safer than that which is grown in foreign places with questionable and unregulated practices and healthier than that which has sat for days after harvest.

Starting this Saturday, April 26, the market will be open in its spot on Railroad Avenue down from Southern States. Although produce will be limited early on, there will be bedding plants, hanging baskets, herbs, greenhouse and nursery plants, possible asparagus and crafts.

There will be reusable bags for purchase while shopping with us. We hope that you will make it a habit of stopping by each day we are open, only on Saturdays until produce comes in, filling up your bag and visiting with us. You wont be sorry.
