Law enforcement officials released the name last week of the Falmouth man killed in last Wednesday morning’s single-car accident on US 27 North.

According to the report taken by Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathan Gasser, Clarence Hoskins, 62, was driving northbound at 9:40 a.m. when his vehicle exited the right shoulder of the road and struck a driveway culvert.

The report says Hoskin’s 2001 Honda Odyssey became airborne, striking two parked tractors.

The vehicle flipped, struck a utility pole and landed upside down in the parking lot of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall.

Improper control of the vehicle is listed on the report as a factor in the collision.

A witness told police Hoskins was “driving erratic at a high rate of speed” seconds before the wreck.

There were no other passengers in the van.

Hoskins was declared dead at the scene by Harrison County Coroner Thomas Ware.

Assisting at the scene were Harrison County volunteer firefighters and Brown’s EMS.
