To the editor:
The entire Hassel family story is a disgrace and humiliation to this community.
This community stood tall and proud when Ty Pennington and his crew came to Cynthiana and put us on national television, along with our local Sosbe Construction and all other local contractors who so graciously gave of their time to help this family with medical problems and medical bills and now they want to bail.
Well, first, let me say, you’ll be lucky to get the price you’re asking because of the location of the house in Sunrise.
Second of all, there are so many of us that have to travel to Lexington to see our doctors three to five times a week for cancer treatments or trips made to be with a loved one who’s in one of the hospitals. We don’t pull up roots and move and sell, we just deal with the issue at hand.
When your son has his surgeries, there is the Ronald McDonald House to stay in and St. Joseph Hospital also has a home for families out of town.
I sincerely hope that you will pray a little harder about this situation, because God Himself allowed you to be blessed with this beautiful home in Sunrise.
It was a gift from God and the whole community. Sometimes we put our “wants” before our “needs.”
God will provide a way to make trips to Lexington. I know this first hand because for one and a half years, He provided trips for me to north Lexington for dialysis three times a week. And I am so graciously thankful that God placed these good people in my hands. And He’ll do the same for you if you’ll let Him.
Let go - and let God be the center of your dilemma.
Selling your house is not the answer when God Himself made it possible.
My prayers are with you at this time. Think about all the people that came to your aide in your time of need and think about what you have inherited an be heartfelt and thankful. You got something the rest of us would love to have. Just let God have control - He’ll work it all out. He’ll make a way, just trust Him, have faith and hold onto your home He gave you.
