Allen Fryman likes animals.

And, Fryman has an abundance of animals.

As the county’s animal control officer since June, Fryman has been working to accommodate the 1,399 animals that have entered the Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter this year.

The shelter’s intake number is up from 1,124 animals last year.

“We stay full most of the time,” Fryman said.

“I think  a lot of them are from people that can’t afford to take care of their pets anymore,” Fryman said.
