Following up on a tip from a concerned citizen, police nabbed an alleged drug trafficker along with his stash.
“He had 27 joints rolled and ready to sell,” said Cpl. Walter Tapp, following Sunday’s arrest of Jeffrey Streitenberger.
Tapp said after receiving the tip, at about 1:30 p.m., Cynthiana Police officers converged on the area around the Cynthiana Gymnastics Center on North Poplar Street.
Streitenberger, 38, was on foot and talking with a man in a vehicle.
When police rolled up on the scene, Tapp said they asked for and was given permission to search.
The man in the car had nothing in his possession or inside the vehicle.
However, Tapp said Streitenberger had the 27 marijuana cigarettes as well as a bottle of lortabs, a set of scales and $115, all of which were seized.
Streitenberger was charged with two counts of prescription controlled substance not in proper container, second degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified), trafficking a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, trafficking marijuana less than 8 ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Streitenberger is also awaiting grand jury action on separate drug charges.
