Dr. A.C. Wright and Dr. Stephen Moses announce the addition of Jeannie Kilpela, Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to the staff.
A native of Cynthiana, Ky., Kilpela is a 1998 graduate of Harrison County High School. In 2006, she received her associate of science degree in nursing from Lexington Community College in Lexington, Ky. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2009. In 2011, Kilpela received her masters of science in nursing from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.
An Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is a registered nurse (RN) who has completed an advanced graduate-level education program and has passed a national certification examination in order to practice in one of four APRN roles (clinical nurse specialist, nurse midwife, nurse practitioner, and registered nurse anesthetist). APRNs are able to diagnose and treat health problems, prescribe medications, perform procedures, order and interpret laboratory tests, counsel patients about health promotion and prevention, coordinate care and refer patients to physicians and other health care providers.
Prior to joining the practice of Wright and Moses in August, Kilpela was employed as a nurse practitioner for Central Baptist Health in a rural clinic. In addition, she was employed by Georgetown Community Hospital and University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center as an ICU registered nurse.
“We are happy to have Jeannie join our family medicine practice and to be adding another provider to better serve the patients in our community,” says Dr. Stephen Moses, Family Medicine physician.
Kilpela and her husband, Matt, have two children, Alyssa and Conner.
