The Harrison County Democratic Woman’s Club met Aug. 27 at The Vault. Michelle Barnett, president, presided. The meeting featured the annual auction with Robert, Sue and Katherine Lake auctioning the crafts with the proceeds to be used for a scholarship for a student at Harrison County High School.
Sue McKee led in the Pledge of Allegiance. The invocation was given by Marilynn Bell.
It was announced that Virgie Florence Wells will be the honoree at the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner at the Cynthiana Christian Church on Monday, Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Plans were made for the booth sponsored by the club at the Taste of Harrison County.
The annual Pig Roast is to be held at Flat Run Veteran’s Park on Oct. 15 from 5-7 p.m. This event will feature Alex Barnett’s bar-b-que.
Debbie Lemons will serve as vice president of the club due to the present vice president resigning. There is an opening for the second vice president.
Elected officials present were: Judge Executive Alex Barnett, County Clerk Linda Furnish, Circuit Clerk Kathy Kearns, school board member Mary June Brunker, and City Commissioner Jack Keith.
The regular meeting in October will not be held due to the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner.
