Dance team wins national competition

The Harrison County High School Dance team traveled to Evansville Indiana Saturday and brought back the first place trophy from a national competition. The Heartland National Dance Competition at The Centre in downtown Evansville hosted squads 23 squads from the central part of the United States. 

The competition started at 9 a.m. with the individual competition, solos, and ensembles and other non-team events. The team competition was in the afternoon and consisted of each squad doing routines which have a maximum time of two and one half minutes. 

In the Varsity Variety Division, the Harrison County squad brought home the first place trophy. Squad members are: senior Della McDonald; freshmen, Holly Miller, Becca Riggle, Kaitlyn Swinford and Lahni Techau; and eighth grader, Audrey Ramsey.  The squad is coached by Kristin McDonald and Paula Anderson.
