Case reports

Sept. 1 At 5:49 p.m., Ptl. Shannon Miller reported that he attempted to detain Stephen McElheny on two occasions for questions regarding his drivers license. However, McElheny allegedly avoided police twice. According to the report McElheny has numerous warrants for arrest out of Fayette County.

Sept. 2 At 11:10 a.m., Ptl. Scott Loechel was on patrol on South Walnut Street when he was approached by a juvenile who has bleeding from a cut above his eye. The juvenile told police he had been assaulted on Old Lair Road.

Sept. 2 At 4:10 p.m., police were called to Cash Express on Walnut Street where a woman was attempted to cash a bogus check.

Sept. 4 At 12 p.m., police were called to First Street where the owner of vacant house had been called about someone removing items from the home. A neighbor reportedly took photographs and presented those to the police. The suspect was contacted and old police that he had been told he could have the stuff inside the house. However, Lowell Maybrier, property owner, said he wanted his belongings back. The individual returned most of the property. However, Maybrier said he wanted to press charges because not all of the things were returned. He found some at Randys Recycling on his own.

Sept. 5 At 12:57 a.m., police investigated an attempted suicide.

Sept. 4 At 10 p.m., Larry Nickerson, Elm Street, reported that someone stole his bicycle from his front yard.

Sept. 5 At 2:01 a.m., a report was made from Shell Food Mart of an 18-pack of beer being shoplifted by two black males who left on foot.

Sept. 5 -- At 9:40 p.m., police were called to Harrison Memorial Hospital where a 16-year-old boy was having what police termed an aggravated temper tantrum after he got into an argument with his sister. The juvenile was told not to return to the hospital unless he had an emergency.

Sept. 5 At 11:24 p.m., Sgt. Tim Wells was called to investigated a number of calls to 911 dispatch where the caller did not respond to dispatchers. Police found the subject on Marshall Avenue to be intoxicated and blamed the harassing phone calls on his dog.

Sept. 6 At 7:56 a.m., Mark Shelton, Elm Street, called police to report that his residence had been broken into. He said he was in Florence until after the first of the year but had been advised by a neighbor that his belongings had been taken.

Sept. 6 At 8:30 p.m., a resident of Parkside Manor was taken to HMH where she had allegedly been injured by another client at the assisted care facility.

Sept. 6 At 10:05 p.m., police investigated a case of possible neglect.

Sept. 7 At 12:10 a.m., police took a report of alleged domestic violence that had supposedly happened 14 hours earlier.

Sept. 6 At 6:51 p.m., police investigated a report of theft of coins an a lighter from a home on Pleasant Street.

Sept. 8 At 8:29 p.m., police made a traffic stop on Christopher Collett, who failed a field sobriety test. Collett was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

Sept. 9 At 10:58 p.m., police investigated a case of possible child abuse.

Sept. 10 At 1 p.m., police were advised of a possible threat of criminal mischief against a womans vehicle.

Arrests, warnings, citations

Sept. 6 -- William P. Neil, 21, was arrested on a warrant for absence without leave state (AWOL).

Sept. 7 -- Mary N. Hunt, 53, was cited for speeding, no registration receipt and failure to produce insurance card in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Sept. 8 -- Christopher S. Collett, 21, was arrested on U.S. 27 South for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia (buy, possession), possession of a controlled substance, operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs/etc., improper equipment, failure to wear seat belts.

Sept. 9 -- Daniel Holbert, 27, was arrested on U.S. 27 South and charged with possession of marijuana, alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Sept. 9 -- Christy L. Murphy, 31, was arrested on U.S. 27 South and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Sept. 9 -- Clinton S. Murphy, 27, was arrested and charged with operating/drinking alcohol on package liquor premises, operating on suspended or revoked operators license, failure to wear seat belts, operating motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs/etc, aggravated circumstances.

Sept. 9 -- Savanna Perkins, 20, was arrested on Riggs Avenue and charged with hindering prosecution or apprehension.

Sept. 9 -- Tony Markland, 37, was arrested on Main Street on two warrants for failure to appear.

Sept. 9 -- Tradessa L. Machajewski, 35, was arrested on Limestone on the execution of a bench warrant for failure of owner to maintain insurance.

Sept. 9 -- Moises Santiago Sanchez, 29, was arrested on Bridge Street and charged with alcohol intoxication.

Sept. 10 -- Lynn T. Poe, 52, was issued a warning for speeding on U.S. 27 North.

Sept. 10 -- Alicia D. Hatfield, 18, was arrested at First Stop and charged with failure of owner to maintain insurance, failure to notify DOT of address change and failure to register transfer of motor vehicle.

Sept. 11 -- David Mullins, 44, was arrested on Miller Street and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Sept. 11 -- Obie Roberts, 53, was arrested on Pleasant Street and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Sept. 12 -- Kathryn R. Leopold, 20, was arrested on Church Street and charged with disorderly conduct.

Sept. 12 -- Aaron Beasley, 28, was arrested on Church Street and charged with disorderly conduct.

Sept. 12 -- Travis Wedding, 28, was arrested on Church Street and charged with disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon.
