Case reports
Aug. 6 – At 2:48 p.m., Clayton Griess, U.S.27, reported that his Winchester rifle was on the wall at Bell’s Sporting Goods and that it had been stolen from him over two years ago. Police traced the rifle and could not establish that Griess had owned the gun. The investigation is continuing with ATF involved in a trace to identify who the owners of the gun have been in recent years.
Aug. 6 – At 8:05 p.m., Alyssa Bryant reported that she had been fighting with Eric Knipper via phone calls and text messages and that others had also gotten involved. Police advised all parties to stay away from each other and to avoid all contact, including texting and calling.
Aug. 8 – At 9:16 a.m., A report was made of a small child playing beside the street on Elmarch Avenue and that no adult supervision was near. When police arrived at the residence the child was back inside and the mother said she was sitting on the porch while the child was playing.
Aug. 8 – At 1:38 p.m., McKensie Lewis reported that two tires on her vehicle were cut while the car was parked on Clarey Alley.
Aug. 8 – At 3:15 p.m., Troy Kelly, Elm Street, reported that he has been receiving harassing text messages from his wife.
Aug. 9 – At 2:50 p.m., Sheila Rumford of Thrift Food Mart reported that someone tried to get into the store over night and that there are marks on the door.
Aug. 10 – At 8:55 p.m., police were advised that a child at an Elmarch Avenue address was back out by the street and unattended. Two calls were received at this time.
Aug. 10 – At 1:05 p.m., Loretta Kiskaden, Leawood Drive, reported that she had 12 to 14 bags of crushed pop cans taken from behind her home. She located the cans at Randy’s Recycling Center.
Aug. 10 – At 2:22 p.m., Rebecca Swearingen, Elmarch Avenue, reported that several items were taken from the bed of her truck. Items missing included a Stihl chain saw and a Stanley jump pack.
Aug. 10 – At 4:06 p.m., Morris Barnes reported that his wife had damaged property inside his home.
Aug. 10 – At 4:31 p.m., Hillary Bennett reported that her former boyfriend’s new girlfriend had put petroleum jelly on the door handle of her vehicle while it was parked at Walmart. Police identified the woman through Walmart security video. The woman was advised that she could be charged with harassment and could be asked not to return to Walmart.
Aug. 10 – At 5:33 p.m., Robert Myer reported that his ex-wife has failed to bring his three children for their court-ordered visitation.
Aug. 10 – At 8:17 p.m., Ricky Lanter, Wilson Avenue, reported that a silver chain necklace was missing from his residence.
Aug. 10 – At 8:26 p.m., Michael Nelson, Wilson Avenue, reported damage to his vehicle.
Aug. 11 – At 8:38 a.m., Grace Wood reported that sometime during the night someone wrote on the windows of her truck with chalk and thrown bologna and cheese on the window.
Aug. 11 – At 4:45 p.m., police were called to a neighbor dispute on Locust Street.
Aug. 11 – At 10:04 p.m., police were called to Movie Warehouse where a fight was in progress. Multiple subjects were in the parking lot and pointed to where Scott Gaunce had run when he heard sirens. Gaunce was arrested and charged with fourth degree assault, alcohol intoxication in a public place and fleeing or evading police on foot.
Aug. 11 – At 10:43 p.m., police were called to Ronnie’s Bar and Grill on Walnut Street regarding a fight that started inside and carried outside. The fight started over an admission being charged to get into the bar.
Aug. 12 – At 7:40 a.m., John Conley, Walnut Street, reported that the front window of Ronnie’s Bar and Grill was broken out. A brick was laying in the bar area of the business.
Aug. 12 – At 12:36 p.m., Walter Maxey, Barlow Road, reported that while parked at either Family Dollar Store or the Christian Church parking lot that someone had removed a reading magnifier for the visually impaired and an assortment of CDs.
Aug. 12 – At 1:06 p.m., a Riggs Avenue woman reported that her juvenile children were attacked by other juveniles while on their way to the play ground.
Aug. 13 – At 12:32 a.m., Jonathan K. Patrick, Pearl Street, was attacked in the municipal parking lot beside dispatch. The incident was witnessed by 911 dispatch on surveillance cameras and notified officers. Patrick told police this is the second time he has been jumped by the same perpetrator in the last two weeks.
Aug. 13 – At 9:15 a.m., police were alerted to a missing person from Maysville. His last known location was Cynthiana.
Aug. 13 – At 11:22 a.m., police received a report from a man who wanted to pursue charges against a 19-year-old man who had been having sexual intercourse with his 14-year-old daughter. The daughter is seven months pregnant.
Aug. 13 – At 7:28 p.m., police were called to Hillside Drive for a fight in progress.
Aug. 13 – At 10:50 p.m., Jerome Wells, St. Clair, reported that he went to his ex-girlfriend’s house and the new boyfriend jumped into his car and struck him. Wells did not want to prosecute.
Aug. 14 – At 3:29 p.m., Amanda Sparks Thrift Mart reported that two individuals had entered the store and stolen a Red Bull drink. Clinton O’Brien and Stephanie Price were trespassed from returning to Thrift.
Aug. 14 – At 4:58 p.m., Kimberly White, Toadvine Lane, reported that she is being harassed through phone calls and text messages by a former boyfriend. She said she has told him not to contact her again.
Aug. 14 – At 5:08 p.m., Daniel Buckley of Ken’s Exxon reported that an individual entered the store and took two cartons of Marlboro Red cigarettes worth $97.33.
Aug. 14 – At 6:14 p.m., police were called to Harrison County High School where two cell phones and an iPod were missing from a band student’s clothes that he had changed from for band practice. School surveillance picked up the suspect entering the restroom behind the student. When approached by police, the suspect, Zachary Locket, Mt. Sterling, returned the missing items and was cited for theft by deception and criminal mischief.
