Tragedy struck a Harrison County family Sunday when father and husband Michael Doram was killed in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 62 West.

Harrison County Sheriff?s Deputy Dean Hutchison said Doram, 47, was headed toward Cynthiana about 8 p.m. Dec. 23 when his 2001 Ford pickup dropped off the right side of he road. He traveled along the ditch line in front of the Griffith Farm then crossed back over the highway with the the truck turning sideways as it crossed.

Hutchison, an accident reconstructionist, said the truck left the roadway again striking the end post of a guardrail, which caused the truck to flip. It came to rest over an embankment in a tree line.

Doram, who worked at Toyota, was possibly returning home from Christmas shopping, Hutchison said, adding that he was wearing his seat belt and the airbag did deploy.

Hutchison said the accident remains under investigation.

He is survived by his wife Letitia and two daughters Sherese, 15, and Jordan, 12, and son Marcus Newcomb. See page 6, for obituary information.
