Court scrutinizes jail budget

The Harrison County Fiscal Court is gearing up for next year’s budget by taking a glimpse at the jail fund.

According to Harrison County Judge-Executive Alex Barnett, almost every county struggles with the jailer’s budget due to the increasing fees in housing prisoners and insurance.

Harrison County Jailer Larry Turner presented the fiscal court with a proposed budget, which showed an increase of $40,000 for next year.
