Magistrate Bradley Copes discussed the possibility of transferring operation of 911 services to Kentucky State Police at Tuesday evening’s Fiscal Court meeting.
“It is not eliminating 911,” County Judge Executive Alex Barnett said Wednesday morning. “It moves the dispatch of 911 to local KSP posts.”
The 911 service is currently partially funded through charges on landline phones. With the increase of cell phone usage and decrease of landline phones, Copes questioned whether the service could be provided at a lower cost with KSP.
