The Harrison County Fiscal Court approved second reading of the ordinance standardizing the occupational and net profits tax ordinance.
In a 5-3 vote, magistrates approved the state-mandated ordinance which added a tax on rental properties with gross receipts over $15,000 annually.
The measure passed without opposition from local citizens, but District 8 Magistrate Bradley Copes questioned how the rental property tax would be implemented three months into the year.
