Harrison County magistrates have given an unofficial nod to a 50-cent pay increase for county employees.

District 8 magistrate Bradley Copes, who opposed last year’s pay increase request, said Tuesday that since the county was able to negotiate lower health insurance costs, the raises are more feasible.

County Judge-Executive Alex Barnett said the county will receive about an 18 percent savings by switching from Bluegrass Family Health to United Health Care.
