Public Library. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library will be closing at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10 and will reopen Friday, Dec. 11 at 9 a.m.
HMH Blood Drive. Harrison Memorial Hospital will sponsor a blood drive on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Conference Room 1 at HMH.
Berry City Commission will meet Thursday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m., at Berry City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.
FRIDAY, Dec. 11
2009 Holiday Workshops. Holiday Topiary Workshop, Friday, Dec. 11 from 2-4 p.m. A small topiary tree will be made as well as garland to include a messge, name, etc. These workshops are open to anyone facing their first holiday without their loved one. Jockey Reunion Postponed. The Jockey reunion scheduled for Dec. 12 has been postponed until spring due to Armory being closed.
SUNDAY, Dec. 13
Cynthiana Cycling Club. The Cynthiana Cycling Club Weekly Bicycle Ride this week will be held on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 13. Please contact Peter or Kim Newberry for more information. All teenagers (and younger riders if accompanied by an adult) and adults are invited to ride, both beginners and experienced bicyclists are encouraged to join us for this fun group ride aimed at providing the youth of our community a recreational activity as an alternative to drug and substance abuse, and to encourage family and adult support and participation in group bicycle rides with the goal of improving the quality of life in our community. All riders receive a free highly-visible screaming yellow Cycling Club T-Shirt. If needed, bicycles and helmets will also be provided for all wishing to ride, but all riders must contact Peter or Kim Newberry at 234-5285 prior to Saturday, Dec. 12 to reserve a bike and/or helmet.

Champion For A Drug-Free Harrison County will meet Monday, Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Cynthiana Christian Church. This will be a volunteer recognition event. Food will be served. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month.

Library Trivia Contests. Every week from Nov. 30 to Dec. 18 the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library will be having a series of trivia contests. Come by the front desk and pick up a copy of the questions for a chance to play and win.
BGEnergy Food, Toy Drive. Blue Grass Energy will host this a new food and toy drive that will benefit families in Cynthiana. The 12 Days of Giving will be held Dec. 1-16. The public is invited to bring new toys and non-perishable food items to the BGEnergy office, 327 Sea Biscuit Way, Cynthiana, during regular business hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations will go to food banks throughout their service area that are affiliated with Lexington-based God’s Pantry Food Bank, and toys will go to Toys for Tots.
Christmas for the Troops. The Soldier Support Group is asking for donations to assist with a Christmas celebration for the soldiers and their families of 149th Vert EN Co (Cynthiana National Guard Armory) to be held in early December. LIHEAP Energy Assistance Program. Community Action Council's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is available to help Central Kentucky residents keep their heat on. The amount is based on income, household size, fuel type, and geographic location.
