TUESDAY, Dec. 30
AARP Driver Safety Program. Earn a discount on automobile insurance premiums by attending the six-hour class on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 9 a.m. at the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church. The program is a classroom course for drivers 50 and over. A $10 fee covers the course expenses. Seating is limited. Pre-register by calling the church at 859-234-2961. Plan to bring a sandwich.

Blood Drive. Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the KBC Bloodmobile, TEAM D at 301 New Lair Rd. All donors will receive a $10 gas card. Rumpke Holiday Collection Schedule: Rumpke waste removal and recycling services will not run on New Year’s Day (Thursday, Jan. 1). Collection will be delayed one day during the weeks of the holidays. New Year’s Day: Rumpke will provide services as scheduled on Wednesday, Dec. 31, there will be no collection on Thursday, Jan. 1. Customers with regularly scheduled Thursday pickup should place their trash at the curb for Friday pickup. Regularly scheduled Friday pickup will have their trash collected Saturday. Collection schedules will return to normal the week of Jan. 5, 2009. This schedule applies to the following counties of Harrison, Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Grant, Kenton and Pendleton. Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, Jan. 5 at Cedar Ridge at 9:30 a.m.; and Grays Run/Leesburg from 2-4 p.m.
Northside Council. The Northside Site Based Council will hold a special meeting on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at 3:45 p.m. in the Northside library. The public is invited to attend.

Wedco’s Stop Smoking Class. The Wedco District Health Department will be sponsoring a Stop Smoking Class starting Monday, Jan. 12 at Bullard Manufacturing at 3:30 p.m. All smokers that want to quit are invited. Democratic Woman's Club of Harrison County is now accepting 2009 scholarship applications, and may be picked up at Harrison County High School from Mrs. Judy-counselor, Jessica Smith-teacher, or by contacting any member of the club. Applications must be turned in by Jan. 5, 2009.
Honor Flight. Are you a World War II veteran? Are you familiar with the free trips to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial? Honor Flight - Bluegrass Chapter, sponsors free monthly flights, March through October, from Louisville to Baltimore and then by bus to Washington to visit the WWII, Korean, and Iwo Jima flag raising memorials.
