Girl Scout Cookie Sale. Harrison County Girl Scouts are now holding their cookie sales through March 27. Anyone interested in purchasing cookies, $3.50 a box, can call Sherri Migneault at 235-0544. Anyone wishing to buy cookies for the troops overseas may do so and the Girl Scouts will take care of getting them sent out. Proceeds to benefit the local Girl Scouts.

Art Show. Courthouse Square Arts Guild and Blue Licks State Resort Park will be hosting their 4th annual Young Artists of Kentucky student art show April 17-19 at Blue Licks State Park. Any middle school or high school student from the surrounding county schools (Harrison, Nicholas, Robertson, Fleming, Mason, St. Patrick, Bourbon, Paris Independent, Bath, Clark, Bracken, or Montgomery) may enter. There is no entry fee and no admission charge. The show will be in the Arlington Room on the main level of the Blue Licks Lodge. Participants from HCMS should bring their entries to Debbie Pulliam. Those from HCHS should bring theirs to Nicolette Mallory no later than Tuesday April 7. Only flat work will be accepted. All entries must be matted or framed. All participants and their families are invited to a reception Friday April 17, from 7-9 p.m.

Wedco District Health Department will be sponsoring a Stop Smoking Information Class Monday, April 20 at Harrison County Health Center community room at 5 p.m. All smokers and family or friends are invited to come. Pre-K, Kindergarten Registration for the 2009-2110 school year will be held for all elementary schools at the Community Education Center, 308 Webster Ave. on Wednesday, April 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Thursday, April 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2009. They are required to have a copy of birth certificate, social security card, a current immunization certificate, a physical and a vision screening exam upon school entrance. Children entering Pre-K for the first time must be 3 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2009, and will need the same information. They will also need a statement of income and a copy of your medical card, if applicable, social security card or number for everyone in the household and a current dental screening. Diabetes Support Groups. Wedco District Health Department offers Diabetes Support Groups in Harrison, Nicholas, and Scott counties. Join us for a cooking demonstration, the U.S Diabetes Conversation Map, and informative information regarding Diabetes Care. On Display. An extensive doll display in honor of Barbie's 50 year at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The doll first debuted at the New York Toy Fair on March 9, 1959.
Honor Flight. Are you a World War II veteran? Are you familiar with the free trips to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial? Honor Flight - Bluegrass Chapter, sponsors free monthly flights, March through October, from Louisville to Baltimore and then by bus to Washington to visit the WWII, Korean, and Iwo Jima flag raising memorials.
