FRIDAY, June 26

Post-it Note Fashion Design Contest Registration. 3M will sponsor a 'Post-it Note' Fashion Contest for the Cynthiana Art Walk event July 24-25. Registration fee due Friday, June 26. Teams will design, create, and model clothing made of Post-it Notes, supplied by 3M. Modeling and judging will be July 25 at Rohs Theater. Registration fee to be returned to Maysville Community College-Licking Valley Campus. Post-it Notes can be picked up at MCCLVC between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. June 29-July 3.


Reed Valley Orchard Blueberry Pancake Jubilee. Saturday, June 27. Pick own blueberries, enjoy fresh blueberry pancakes, try fresh Blueberry ice cream, homemade oven fried fruit pies or a slushie. Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, June 29 at Community Action Daycare and Harrison County Adult Daycare at 10:30 a.m.

Story Hour. Tuesday, June 30 for ages 2-5 in the Feix Community Room at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Pre-registration is not needed.

Fourth Of July Jubilee. Mt. Olivet will  be crowning Miss Mt. Olivet 4th of July Jubilee 2009 this year along with Baby Shows, Baby Miss and Mister, Tiny Miss and Mister and Little Miss and Little Mister,  Miss Pre-Teen Jubilee and Jr. Miss Jubilee on Friday, July 3 as part of the 4th of July celebration in downtown Mt. Olivet. Registration will begin at 5 p.m. on Court Street in Mt. Olivet. All surrounding areas are all invited to enter the contests. School Loans. The Harrison County Educational Foundation is now accepting applications school loans for the 2009-2010 school year. If you are a graduate of a Harrison County school and would like to apply, pick up an application at Maysville Community College, the guidance office at Harrison County High School, or by calling 588-2424. Completed applications, along with a most recent grade transcript, must be submitted by July 5, 2009. For more information call 588-2424.

Northside Council. Northside Site Based Council will hold a special meeting  on Monday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the Northside library. The public is invited to attend.

Adult Book Group. The book The Knitting Circle by Ann Hood will be the selection for July and is now available for pick-up at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The group will meet Thursday, July 9 at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.

Eagle Scout Summer Reunion. Thursday, July 9 at Camp McKee in Jeffersonville, Ky., for an afternoon camp tour followed by a reunion dinner. This event is open to all Eagle Scouts and their families. Harrison County Fair Community Gospel Sing. Sponsored by the community at the fairgrounds on July 12 at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in participating  is asked to contact Barbara Yearsley, 1146 Ky. Germantown Fair. The Germantown Fair will be hosting new events on Saturday, Aug. 8. Harrison County Soil & Water Conservation District meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the office located at 103 Rodgers Park Dr., Cynthiana. Open to the public.

Community and Employment Opportunities (CEO) is a non-profit employment agency that assists persons with disabilities in finding and retaining employment. Foster Care Volunteers Needed. The Harrison/Pendleton County Citizen Foster Care Review board is seeking volunteers of local foster children. Volunteers are required to complete a six-hour training session and consent to a criminal record and central registry check. Diabetes Support Groups. Wedco District Health Department offers Diabetes Support Groups in Harrison the third Thursday of the month from 3-4 p.m. at Cedar Ridge Health Care Campus; and Scott County on the second Thursday from 3-4 p.m. at the Scoutt County Health Center. On Display. A collection of bird nests on loan from Julie Edwards. Also, in the front foyer, a sampling of the summer reading prizes.

Honor Flight. Are you a World War II veteran? Are you familiar with the free trips to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial? Honor Flight - Bluegrass Chapter, sponsors free monthly flights, March through October, from Louisville to Baltimore and then by bus to Washington to visit the WWII, Korean, and Iwo Jima flag raising memorials. Berry Lions Club meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Berry Lions Club Hall at 7 p.m. New members always welcome.

Moms in Touch International (praying for children and schools) is an interdemoninational, non-profit organization. Clothing Closet. The Harrison County Clothing Closet is in need of adults and childrens coats, all sizes. Money donations are also accepted. The Clothing Closet is located at 128 Main Street, (behind the child support office), and is open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.

Head Start Program. Head Start-Community Action Council, is a comprehensive federally funded child development program for low-income families and children with disabilities that involves parents, community leaders and agencies, and provides the opportunity for children to be successful in school. Early Head Start. Works with families that are expecting a child or have children under three years, with the target age being under one year. The program provides intensive care for children through quality child development services in a center or home-based setting. In addition, Family Development Specialists work with the families to assist them in achieving social and economic self-suffiency. Migrant Head Start Network. A free child care service for children of migrant farm workers. Establishes, provides and promotes continuous child development services to eligible migrant children and their families. The parents are encouraged to be involved in the development of their children and the decisions made at the center. TOPS. Take Off Pounds Sensibly meets at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays in the conference room at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

Narcotics Anonymous meets every Tuesday at 8 at the Cynthiana Christian Church, and Sundays at 8 at the Church of the Advent Episcopal on Walnut Street.

Cynthiana Families Anonymous meeting is held every Thursday from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana Christian Church. Use the Walnut Street entrance to enter the church. Call 859-234-1626 and leave a message for further information.
