Harrison Circuit Court Clerk's Office Closings. The Harrison County Circuit Court Clerk's office will be closed on the following dates: Thursday, Nov. 27, Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29.

Thanksgiving Dinner, Inc. A non-profit organization, will offer Thanksgiving dinner free to the public. Dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 207 E. Pike St., Cynthiana. Donations may be made payable to “Thanksgiving Dinner, Inc.”


Griffith Wood Volunteers Needed. The Friends of Griffith Wood is in need of volunteer help in getting trees in the ground this weekend. There are close to 300 blue ash and rough leaf dogwoods that need to be in the ground over the winter. Join us Saturday, Nov. 29 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Bring gloves, shovels, water and good shoes.

MONDAY, Dec. 1

Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library is compiling a recipe booklet entitled "Read, Recipe and Relax." Recipes need to be turned in by Monday, Dec. 1 for inclusion. On Dec. 4 there will be a meeting at 5:30 p.m. to sample the recipes. For more information call 234-4881.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, Dec. 1 at Cedar Ridge at 9:30 a.m.; Grays Run and Leesburg from 2-4 p.m.


3M Retirees. 3M retirees and employees are invited to a Christmas dinner on Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. at the Senior Citizens 3M community room on Old Lair Road. Bring a covered dish, drink and one guest.


Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. November is toys for fines month. Bring in a new toy to receive $3 off your fine.

Food for the Holiday. For the month of November and December, the Galactic Alley Bowling Center and the Bowlers that's Us Relay for Life team are asking each bowler to bring a can of food or non-perishable item each time they bowl for these two months to donate to the Harrison County Food Pantry. Boxes are provided at the Bowling Alley for the food.

Democratic Woman's Club of Harrison County is now accepting 2009 scholarship applications, and may be picked up at Harrison County High School from Mrs. Judy-counselor, Jessica Smith-teacher, or by contacting any member of the club. Applications must be turned in by Jan. 5, 2009.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Dec. 5 at Robynwood Heights at 2 p.m.

Bingo. Cynthiana Elks Lodge 438 will hold bingo their first Saturday Bingo on Dec. 6, 2008 and Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009. Door opens at 5 p.m. Bingo starts at 6:30 pm. following Elks Monday Night Bingo program with a $1,000 Cover-All.

Adult Book Group selection for December is "The Brief History of the Dead" by Kevin Brockmeier is now available for pick-up at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The group will meet Thursday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. with a potluck.

Library Board Meeting Change. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library board meeting has changed to Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana Country Club.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Dec. 12 at Grand Haven at 3 p.m.

Honor Flight. Are you a World War II veteran? Are you familiar with the free trips to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial? Honor Flight - Bluegrass Chapter, sponsors free monthly flights, March through October, from Louisville to Baltimore and then by bus to Washington to visit the WWII, Korean, and Iwo Jima flag raising memorials. Clothing Closet. The Harrison County Clothing Closet is in need of adults and childrens underwear. Money donations are also accepted. The October Winter Clothing and Coat Drive will be set up at Wal-Mart. Pick up can be arranged by calling 234-1967. The Clothing Closet is located at 128 Main Street, (behind the child support office), and is open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.
