Fiscal Court of Harrison County will meet Tuesday, May 27, 5:30 p.m., meeting room at the Harrison County Sheriff’s building (former KU building). The meetings are open to the public.
Harrison County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, May 27, 7 p.m., at the Community Education Building. The meetings are open to the public.
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Tuesday, May 27 at Toddler Village at 10:30 a.m.; Terrace Park, 11 a.m.; Eastside Laundry, 11:30 a.m.; Cedar Ridge, 3 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, May 28
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Wednesday, May 28 at Kids Club at 3:45 p.m.
Free Child Development Program. If 51% of your income is from agricultural work, you may be eligible for free child care services (age 6 weeks to 5 years old). Contact Community Action Council at 234-2121 or stop by the center located at 217 Old Lair Rd., Cynthiana. Items need to complete application are proof of birth, immunization record, past 12 months of income and documentation indicating 51% of income is in agriculture work.
Narcotics Anonymous meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30-8:30 p.m.; and Saturdays from 6-7 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. at 312 W. Pleasant in the annex (at the rear of the church).
FFA Greenhouse. The FFA greenhouse is now open for business with several flowers, ferns, hanging baskets, and vegetables. Greenhouse hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. During school hours call the high school at 234-7117 and someone will be out to assist.
CHS Alumni Banquet. The Cynthiana High School Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, June 28 at The Prizing House, Church Street. Tickets are available at Biancke’s, Cynthiana-Harrison County Museum and Farmer’s Bank on US 27 South. Advance tickets will be available until June 14 for $20. Limited number of tickets at the door, $25. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30.
Blood Drive. Friday, May 30 from 2-7 p.m. at Cynthiana Walmart, US 27 South, on the KBC Bloodmobile. Every donor will receive a $10 Walmart gift card.
Public Library Book Sale. Monday, June 2 through Saturday, June 7. Come and shop the book sale at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.
Summer Reading Program. Monday, June 2 is the first day to register for the summer reading program at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Come and pick up a reading log and register for all the programs lined up for this summer.
Annual St. Edward Ice Cream Social. Sunday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the church grounds at the corner of North Main and East Mill Street. Handmade hand-cranked ice cream, games for kids, bingo, silent auction, raffle and more.
Exploring the Writer’s Craft. July 12 at 8:30 a.m. at Jefferson Community and Technical College, 505 Buffalo Run Rd., Shepherdsville, Ky. All writers (male and female), in all genres, across the region, are invited to the third annual writing workshop organized by Women Who Write. Featured speakers include prolific Chicago novelist and NYT bestselling biographer Alanna Nash, plus others. HMH At Work Series with Weight Watchers is in need of 20 people to sign up for the next series which will start June 16.
