Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry and Art Contest. Friday, Jan. 25 is the last day to turn in entries for the contest. All entries will be displayed in the library’s front foyer throughout the month of February. Prizes include: gift certificates to Biancke’s, tickets to the Explorium of Lexington, selections from J.J.’s Sweets, gift certicificates to Leono’s, and a ticket package from the Lexington Legends. BTOP Computer Class. Computer Basics Introduction Level 2 will be held Monday, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library annex. This is the second part of the computer class for beginners or for those who have a very limited knowledge of computers. Seating is limited so pre-registration is required.
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, Jan. 28 at Community Action Childcare Center & Harrison County Adult Care Center from 10:30 a.m.-Noon; Hinton, 3-4 p.m.

Harrison County Extension District Board Meeting will be held Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Harrison County Extension Office.
Legal and Financial Planning for Alzheimer’s Disease. If anyone has a loved one or friend with dementia, this program will provide invaluable knowledge about making sound legal and financial plans for their current and future needs. This program is sponsored by a grant from the Margaret T. Stoeckinger Foundation’s Caring for the Caregiver Fund and is free to the public. Amelia Bedelia Anniversary Celebration. Tuesday, Jan.  29 at 5:30 p.m. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library will be hosting the celebration. This program will take place in the children’s library and participants need to be at least 5 years old. Pre-registration is appreciated.

Free Computer Classes Now Available at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library: Monday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. “Computer Basics Level 3”; Monday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. “Introduction to Social Media”; Will be exploring Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and My Space. What are these sites and what can you do with them and what you should avoid. *Pre-registration is required*. The Broadband Technology Opportunity Program Grant (BTOP) will give the people of Harrison County the opportunity to be introduced to computer skills. These skills will assist the people in preparing for and researching for employment.
Memory Heart Group. Remember a loved one by making a heart pillow out of an article of their clothing on Saturday, Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hospice of the Bluegrass. Kentucky Farm Bureau Education Foundation will award 87 county and state college scholarships to high school seniors pursuing a four-year course of study, including three $1,000 scholarships sponsored by Harrison County Farm Bureau Federation. Applicants must be a child of a Kentucky Farm Bureau member. Harrison County Fire Protection District meets at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, 113 W. Pike St., Cynthiana. Open to the public.
Cynthiana-Harrison County Parks and Recreation Committee meets weekly on Mondays at 5 p.m. at the Battle Grove Cemetery office. These meetings are open to the public.
