MONDAY, Dec. 31
Community Education Assistance Program. The application deadline to participate in the Community Education Assistance Program at Harrison Memorial Hospital is Dec. 31. Health Department Closing. The Harrison County Health Department will be closed Monday, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year holiday.
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Monday, Dec. 31 at Lebus Childcare Center at 11 a.m.; Grays Run, 2:30-4 p.m.

Planning Commission of Cynthiana, Harrison County, Berry will not meet in December.
Volunteers Needed. Community Action Council needs volunteers to prepare tax returns for working families. The Internal Revenue Service provides courtesy return preparation assistance to people who may not be able to afford professional tax help and to raise awareness about the Earned Income Tax Credit. Free training and materials are provided now through the end of January. Certified Public Accountants (CPA) or extensive accounting experience, are not required. We will train people. Volunteer opportunities are available from Jan. 22 through April 15. Cynthiana-Harrison County EDA. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Economic Development Authority, the Maysville Community and Technical College Licking Valley Campus and the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Small Business/Entrepreneurs Seminar on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at the Ky. Community and Technical College-Licking Valley Campus, 319 Webster Ave., Room 216. Three, two and a half hour sessions are available: 9-11:30 a.m., 1:30-4 p.m. and 5-7:30 p.m. Due to limited seating, pre-register before Friday, Jan. 11 by contacting Lisa Harmon at 859-234-6689 or email lisa.harmon@kctcs.edu. Home Assistance. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Home Assistance, Inc. will be taking applications for qualifying families. If you are interested in becoming a homeowner call 859-588-7620 after 4:30 p.m. for information.
Harrison County Clothes Closet. A new drop box is now located in the back parking lot of Cynthiana Baptist Church, and is in need of coats (all sizes) and blankets. Hymn Sing. Berry Methodist Church will hold a Hymn Sing on the fourth Sunday of each month beginning at 6 p.m.

Young Farmers. The Harrison County Young Farmers will be meeting in the Harrison County High School ag room on Monday nights at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome to attend.
Library Display Foyer. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library is hosting a display of armed forces memorabilia. Also needing people to share talent/collections with the community. Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet is now ready with summer clothing and will now be open on the last Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Closet is located at 103 N. Main (beside Cynthiana Presbyterian Church) and open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.

LVBPW Meeting. The Licking Valley Business and Professional Women’s meets the second Wednesday of each month at Biancke’s Restaurant at noon, with a guest speaker. Interested and new members are welcome.
Harrison County Fire Protection District meets at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, 113 W. Pike St., Cynthiana. Open to the public.
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets the second and fourth Thursdays of every month from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at Indian Creek Christian Church. Come join other moms for food, fun and fellowship.
