SATURDAY, Oct. 6
Country Festival and Back Forty Nature Walk. Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Reed Valley Orchard, Paris, Ky. Entertainment all day, petting zoo and sheep shearing demo by the Bourbon County FFA, wagon rides, craft booths, food booths and more. Admission is free.
MONDAY, Oct. 8
Champions For A Drug-Free Harrison County will meet Monday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month.
TUESDAY, Oct. 9
Cynthiana City Commission will meet Tuesday, Oct. 9, 5:30 p.m., upstairs City Hall in the commissioners’ room. The meetings are open to the public.
Fiscal Court of Harrison County will meet Tuesday, Oct. 9, 5:30 p.m., meeting room at the Harrison County Sheriff’s building (former KU building). The meetings are open to the public.
WEDNESDAY, Oct. 10
Painting Exhibit. Freda Platt Walters, a 1959 graduate of Cynthiana High School, will be exhibiting her water colors and oil paintings at the Vault, 201 S. Main St., during the month of October. She will be at the Vault on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Planning Commission of Cynthiana, Harrison County, Berry will meet Monday, Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m., at the sheriff’s office. The meetings are open to the public.
Southside Council. The Southside Elementary Site-Based Decision Making Council will meet Monday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. in the school library. The meeting is open to the public.

Northside Council. The Northside Site Based Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 3:45 p.m. in the school library. The public is invited to attend.
National Business Women’s Week 2012 (NBWW) will be honored the week of Oct. 22-27. NBWW offers communities, companies and organizations an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of working women. It also offers a chance for local BPW organizations across the country/state to recognize companies and individuals that have made strides toward improving working women’s lives in their community.
Harrison County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Oct. 23, 7 p.m., at the Community Education Building. The meetings are open to the public.
Take Charge of Your Health. Come and discuss health topics at HIM (Healthy Informed Men) Seminar on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Harrison County Extension Office. Spooky Boo-Wow Howl-o-ween Parade will be held Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds go to the Human Society of Harrison County.

Young Farmers. The Harrison County Young Farmers will be meeting in the Harrison County High School ag room on Monday nights at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome to attend.
Library Display Foyer. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library is needing people to share talent/collections with the community. The library extends an invitation for foyer display ideas at the public library. Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet is now ready with summer clothing and will now be open on the last Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Closet is located at 103 N. Main (beside Cynthiana Presbyterian Church) and open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.

Harrison County Fire Protection District meets at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, 113 W. Pike St., Cynthiana. Open to the public.
