THURSDAY, Aug. 30
Free Movie Night. Thursday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. hosted by the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The movie will be “Ernest Goes to Camp.” The library will also be doing a craft and having a snack. Pre-registration is appreciated.
MONDAY, Sept. 3
Library Closed. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library will be closed Monday, Sept. 3 in observation of Labor Day.  Will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 9 a.m.
Health Department Closed. The Harrison County Health Department, Oddville Avenue, will be closed Monday, Sept 3 in observance of Labor Day.
Planning Commission of Cynthiana, Harrison County, Berry will not meet this month.

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Eastside Elementary from 9:30-noon; Berry, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Books. Books for the women’s book group are now available for check out at the front desk at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.
Harrison County Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a portrait fundraiser. There will be authorized representatives going door to door, anyone who participates with a $20 or more contribution will revieve one-free 8x10 family portrait. The portraits will be taken at the Harrison County Fire Department and will be contacted by phone for an appointment.

Thumb Print Necklace/Ornament Family Craft Time. Thursday, Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. All materials provided. Pre-registration is appreciated. The program will be taking place in the children’s library.
Humane Society Yard Sale. The Humane Society yard sale will be Friday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church. For more information call 859-312-1267.

Taste of Harrison County. The annual Taste of Harrison County, sponsored by the Cynthiana Lions club, will be held Sept. 8. The Chamber will have the 15th annual Born To Run 5K Run/Walk; the Community Health Partnership Wellness/HMH will have the Little Feet, Big Feet 1 mile Family Fun Walk; and Journey Medical Mission will have an open house from 9 a.m.-noon.
Lady Elks Luau. Saturday, Sept. 8, 8 p.m. to midnight in the Cynthiana Elk’s Lodge basement with live music. Dinner served at 6:30. Cost is Elk couples $10, singles $5, guest couples $15, and guest singles $8.
Champions for a Drug Free Harrison County. Discovery to Recovery - community meeting will be Monday, Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at Cynthiana Christian Church. Key note speaker will be Brian Fingerson, Kentucky Professional Recovery Network and a panel discussion moderate by Judge David Melcher. Refreshments will be served.

HCHS Class of 1972. Harrison County High School Class of 1972 will hold its 40 year class reunion pig roast on Sept. 15 at the Cynthiana Elks Lodge from 5 p.m. to midnight. HCHS Class of 1957. Harrison County High School Class of 1957 will meet at Biancke’s on Sept. 17 at noon. Join classmates for lunch and help plan the 55 year class reunion to be held Oct. 13, 2012.

Boy Scout Troop 76 meets every Tuesday from 5:45-7:15 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, just past Eastside Elementary School. Drive to the back of the building; the meeting is in the lower meeting room. Must be 11 years old or at least in the fifth grade. For more information contact Tim Lail, 588-9370.
Children’s Story Time. Every Tuesday at 10 a.m. and again at 4:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.Come listen to fun stories and do crafts. For ages birth to 5.
Weight Watchers will meet each Tuesday evening at Hospice of the Bluegrass. Weigh-in at 5:15 p.m. and the meeting will follow at 5:45 p.m.
Young Farmers. The Harrison County Young Farmers will be meeting in the Harrison County High School ag room on Monday nights at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome to attend.
Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet is now ready with summer clothing and will now be open on the last Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Closet is located at 103 N. Main (beside Cynthiana Presbyterian Church) and open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.
