THURSDAY, July 19
Spouse Loss Support Group. A four-week support group that offers support for those who have experienced the loss of a spouse or significant other on Thursdays, July 19, 26, Aug. 2, and 9 at 6 p.m. at the Bourbon County Health Department. Sponsored by Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Basic Survival Class. Survivors Skills class offered Thursday, July 19 at 6 p.m. at the Paris-Bourbon County Library. This event will focus on various survival methods, strategies and techniques and is free and open to the public and suitable for most ages. Youth under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. I Wish I May Story and Craft. Thursday, July 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Come to hear a story and make a wishing tree. For ages 4 and up.
Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden. Thursday, July 19 at 6 p.m. The Zoo is coming to the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The library will be closing at 5:30 p.m. in order to prepare for the visit. The library will reopen at 6 p.m. for the visit. Computers and materials check out will not be available after 6 p.m. This program will take place in the main library.  If the crowd is too large, there will be a showing of animals at 6 p.m. and a second showing at 6:30 p.m. The children’s library will act as a waiting room in case of inclement weather. Youth Bookstore. Friday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Bring in completed summer reading log, pick up a new one, grab a free book (up to 6 per child for the summer), and enter to win Summer reading prize drawings.
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, July 20 at Our Little Miracles with a special program at 10:30 a.m.; Beacon House, 2 p.m.; Robynwood Heights, 3 p.m.
Free Outdoor Concert. Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m. on Court Street in Mt. Olivet, Ky., for the late Johnny Wallace Stewart. Sponsored by Stewart’s brother Marvin Stewart.

Harrison County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, July 24, 7 p.m., at the Community Education Building. The meetings are open to the public.
Cynthiana City Commission will meet Tuesday, July 24, 5:30 p.m., upstairs City Hall in the commissioners’ room. The meetings are open to the public.
Fiscal Court of Harrison County will meet Tuesday, July 24, 5:30 p.m., meeting room at the Harrison County Sheriff’s building (former KU building). The meetings are open to the public.
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Tuesday, July 24 at Toddler Village, 10:30 a.m.; Terrace Park, 11 a.m.; Cedar Ridge, 3 p.m.

WEDCO District Board of Health will hold their quarterly board meeting on Monday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Wedco District office, 302 Oddville Ave., Cynthiana.

School Supplies for Fines. During the month of July the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library will be accepting school supplies for fines. Supplies must be new. For more information please contact the library at 234-4881 or come to the front desk of the library.
Adult Bookmark Reviews. May be turned in Monday through Thursday from 2-5 p.m. Bookmark review forms are available at the front desk at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.
St. Mary School. St. Mary School, Paris, Ky., is now offering a Montessori program for 3 and 4 year olds. The program will offer half days and full days. Call St. Mary School at 859-987-3815 for more information as there are only a few openings left.
Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter July Cat Special. The Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter will be offering adoption of kittens and cats for $25 during the month of July. This special price will include free vet exam, rabies shot and spay/neuter. Grandmother’s Dream Catcher. Thursday, July 26 at 5 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Listen to the book  Grandmother’s Dream Catcher and make a dream catcher. For ages 4 and up.
Women’s Brook Group. Thursday, July 26 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The book for discussion will be The Paris Wife by Paula McClain. Refreshments will be served the night of discussion.  Copies of the book may be picked up at the front desk.
Summer Food Service Program. The Harrison County Board of Education is participating in the Summer Food Service Program with meals provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided at the River Road Park through July 27 from noon to 12:30 p.m.
Band Alumni Reunion. The fourth annual Harrison County Band Alumni reunion will be held Saturday, July 28 from 2:30-5 p.m. at the Rohs Opera House. All former and current members welcome. Will be playing marching band shows from four decades past on the big screen. Silent auction to benefit the Robert E. Gregg Scholarship Fund.
Miss Germantown Fair and PreTeen Pageants are open to Kentucky residents that are enrolled in a public school. All rules and fact sheet are listed on the website at Germantown Fair. The Miss Pageant is July 30, with practice on Saturday, July 28 at 4 p.m. and early entry at reduced price by July 25, and the PreTeen practice on Sunday July 29 at 2 p.m. and pageant on Wednesday, Aug. 1. Look Good-Feel Better Workshop. Bourbon Community Hospital in conjunction with the American Cancer Society will be offering a new program for women undergoing cancer treatment.The two-hour workshop is free and will be held July 31 at 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s community room, Hopewell Medical Complex, 8 Linville Drive, Ste J (lower level). Boy Scout Troop 76 meets every Tuesday from 5:45-7:15 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, just past Eastside Elementary School. Drive to the back of the building; the meeting is in the lower meeting room. Must be 11 years old or at least in the fifth grade. For more information contact Tim Lail, 588-9370.
Children’s Pajamarama Story Time. Every Tuesday at 10 a.m. and again at 4:30 p.m. throughout the summer at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Listen to “Night” themed stories and do fun, dream worthy crafts. For ages birth to 7. Wearing pajamas is accepted but not required.

Weight Watchers will meet each Tuesday evening at Hospice of the Bluegrass. Weigh-in at 5:15 p.m. and the meeting will follow at 5:45 p.m.
Young Farmers. The Harrison County Young Farmers will be meeting in the Harrison County High School ag room on Monday nights at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome to attend.
Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet is now ready with summer clothing and will now be open on the last Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Closet is located at 103 N. Main (beside Cynthiana Presbyterian Church) and open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.
