THURSDAY, April 2

HMH Sales. The Harrison Memorial Auxiliary will be having their Spring Uniform Sale on April 2 from 3-11 p.m. and April 3 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will also have their Spring Bake Sale on April 9 starting at 10 a.m. in the front lobby of the hospital.

FRIDAY, April 3

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, April 3 at 3 p.m. at Grand Haven.

Story Hour. Friday, April 3 from 4:30-5 p.m. for ages 2-5 in the Feix Community Room at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Pre-registration is not needed.

TUESDAY, April 7

Champion For A Drug-Free Harrison County Town Hall Meeting IV will be held Tuesday, April 7 at the Cynthiana Christian Church at 7 p.m. Speaker will be Bret Kirkland, KSP First Class, on Narcotics in the Community. Everyone invited. Food will be provided along with door prizes.

Story Hour. Tuesday, April 7 from 10-11 a.m. for ages 2-5 in the Feix Community Room at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Pre-registration is appreciated. This will be a special story hour entitled "I know A Chicken."

WEDNESDAY, April 8

Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Wednesday, April 8 at 2 p.m. in Antioch.

Harrison County Fire Tax District will meet Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office. The meeting is open to the public.

C.H.S. Alumni. The Cynthiana High School Alumni Association will be raffling a UK Print signed by Coach Joe B. Hall and can be seen at A Touch of Charm. Tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10.

Community Easter Egg Hunt. The fourth annual Frankie Taylor Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 11 at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Recreation Park on U.S. 62 E. at 11 a.m. for ages three to 11. In case of bad weather, eggs will be passed out at the Health Department. Each child must provide their own basket or bag. The event is sponsored by the Rev. Ross Park Committee and NorthEast and SouthWest Family Resource Centers.

Bingo - Cynthiana Elks Bingo will be held Saturday, April 11. Doors open at 5 p.m., with Bingo starting at 6:30 p.m.

Art Show. Courthouse Square Arts Guild and Blue Licks State Resort Park will be hosting their 4th annual Young Artists of Kentucky student art show April 17-19 at Blue Licks State Park. Any middle school or high school student from the surrounding county schools (Harrison, Nicholas, Robertson, Fleming, Mason, St. Patrick, Bourbon, Paris Independent, Bath, Clark, Bracken, or Montgomery) may enter. There is no entry fee and no admission charge. The show will be in the Arlington Room on the main level of the Blue Licks Lodge. Participants from HCMS should bring their entries to Debbie Pulliam. Those from HCHS should bring theirs to Nicolette Mallory no later than Tuesday April 7. Only flat work will be accepted. All entries must be matted or framed. All participants and their families are invited to a reception Friday April 17, from 7-9 p.m.

Wedco’s Stop Smoking Information Class. Wedco District Health Department will be sponsoring a Stop Smoking Information Class Monday, April 20 at Harrison County Health Center community room at 5 p.m. All smokers and family or friends are invited to come. No need to register, just show up on time. Registrations for classes will be taken after the information class. Maysville Expo. The 15th annual Maysville Antique and Craft Expo, sponsored by the Washington Lions Club, will be held Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are a few vendor spaces left on a first come first served basis. Pre-K, Kindergarten Registration for the 2009-2110 school year will be held for all elementary schools at the Community Education Center, 308 Webster Ave. on Wednesday, April 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Thursday, April 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2009. They are required to have a copy of birth certificate, social security card, a current immunization certificate, a physical and a vision screening exam upon school entrance. Children entering Pre-K for the first time must be 3 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2009, and will need the same information. They will also need a statement of income and a copy of your medical card, if applicable, social security card or number for everyone in the household and a current dental screening. Diabetes Support Groups. Wedco District Health Department offers Diabetes Support Groups in Harrison, Nicholas, and Scott counties. Join us for a cooking demonstration, the U.S Diabetes Conversation Map, and informative information regarding Diabetes Care. The support groups are held in: Nicholas County the first Monday of the month from 3-4 p.m.; Harrison County the third Thursday of the month from 3-4 p.m.; and Scott County the third Thursday of the month from 3-4 p.m. For more information call Crissy at 859-298-4899.

On Display. An extensive doll display in honor of Barbie's 50 year at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The doll first debuted at the New York Toy Fair on March 9, 1959.

Honor Flight. Are you a World War II veteran? Are you familiar with the free trips to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial? Honor Flight - Bluegrass Chapter, sponsors free monthly flights, March through October, from Louisville to Baltimore and then by bus to Washington to visit the WWII, Korean, and Iwo Jima flag raising memorials.
