THURSDAY, May 3
Harrison County Republican Party will meet May 3 at 7 p.m.  at Headquarters located on the corner of Pike and Walnut Street.
Antique Appraisal. Thursday, May 3 at 6 p.m. with Robert Lake at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Patrons are invited to bring in one item for a free appraisal.
FRIDAY, May 4
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available May 4 at Cynthiana Baptist Daycare at 10:30 a.m.; Shady Lawn, 11 a.m.; Eastside Laundry, 3 p.m.; Grand Haven, 3:15 p.m.
SATURDAY, May 5
St. Jude 3K Charity Walk. May 5 at Flat Run Veterans Park. Registration Fee is $35. Each registrant will qualify for a t-shirt. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10. Great gifts will be given away. Come and support a great cause.
MONDAY, May 7
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available May 7 at Community Action Childcare Center/Harrison County Adult Care Center/ Harrison County Senior Center from 10:30 a.m.- noon; Hinton, 3-4 p.m.
 The Harrison County Board of Adjustment will not meet this month.
TUESDAY, May 8
Cynthiana City Commission will meet Tuesday, May 8, 5:30 p.m., upstairs City Hall in the commissioners’ room. The meetings are open to the public.
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available May 8 at Toddler Village at 10:30 a.m.; Terrace Park, 11 a.m.; Cedar Ridge, 3 p.m.
Fiscal Court of Harrison County will meet Tuesday, May 8, 5:30 p.m., meeting room at the Harrison County Sheriff’s building (former KU building). The meetings are open to the public.
WEDNESDAY, May 9
Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available May 9 at Northside Elementary from 9:30 a.m.-noon; Berry, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Parent Loss Support Group. A four-week support group for adults who have lost either a mother or father. Thursday evenings May 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 6 p.m. To register contact Hospice of the Bluegrass at 859-234-6462 or by email at mclay@hospicebg.org. Register by Friday, May 4 to attend these sessions which will be held at the Scott County Public Library in the small conference room, 104 S. Bradford Lane, Georgetown, Ky.

St. Edward Altar Society Annual Yard Sale will be May 10, 11 and 12 at the Florence Tobacco Warehouse, corner of Republican Pike (Ky Hwy 392) and Oddville Road (US 62 East) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. Muffin Tin Meals. Thursday, May 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Come learn how to make a meal that is perfectly portioned in your muffin tin from the appetizer to the dessert.  Moms and their children are especially encouraged to attend. Spots are limited so pre-register. Will be giving away a free cookbook entitled The Muffin Tin Cookbook by Brette Sember.
Northside Council. Northside Site Based Council will meet Thursday, May 10 at 3:45 p.m. in the school library. The public is invited to attend.

Harrison County Community Day Celebration. Friday, May 11 at the courthouse square from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a bake sale, Green Thumb Fair, demonstrations and exhibits, door prizes, and the Central Kentucky Blood Center Mobile Unit will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Lunch served by the Harrison County Beef Cattle Association. The event is sponsored by the Harrison County Homemakers and Beef Cattle Association. In case of threatening weather, will be held at the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church, 103 N. Main St.
Millersburg Garden Sale. The Millersburg annual garden sale will be held Friday, May 11 from 4-6 p.m. at the Millersburg Farmers Market, Main Street, rain or shine. Items available for the garden, potted plants, bulbs, seeds and more along with fresh vegetables from local farmers.
Blood Drive. Friday, May 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the KBC Bloodmobile at 100 Main St. Sponsored by the Harrison County Homemakers.
Kentucky Junior Rodeo. Saturday, May 12 beginning at 1 p.m., Sunday, May 13 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Harrison County 4-H Fairground. Come watch kids K-8th grade take on the rodeo scene. Humane Society Calendar. Submission deadline for the Humane Society of Harrison County’s 2013 desk top calendar is May 15. The submission form is printed on the second to last page of the 2012 calendar. This is a chance to honor or memorialize your pets and help improve the lives of all Harrison County animals. Class of 1957. The Harrison County High School Class of 1957 will meet at Biancke’s on May 21 at noon. Join classmates for lunch and help plan the 55 year class reunion to be held Oct. 13, 2012.
BTOP Free Computer Class (Advanced Excel). Monday, May 21 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Pre-registration is required.
Planning Commission of Cynthiana, Harrison County, Berry will meet Monday, May 21, 7:30 p.m., at the sheriff’s office. The meetings are open to the public.
Harrison County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, May 22, 7 p.m., at the Community Education Building. The meetings are open to the public.
Women’s Book Group. Monday, May 24 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. The book for discussion will be Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin. Refreshments will be served the night of discussion.
Oddville Alumni Dinner. Saturday, May 26 at Cynthiana Christian Church fellowship hall. Everyone who attended Oddville or have be a part of the school and their guest are invited. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., dinner at 6. $18 per person pre-payment is requested. Summer Food Service Program. The Harrison County Board of Education is participating in the Summer Food Service Program with meals provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided at the River Road Park, June 4-July 27, 2012, from noon to 12:30 p.m. No meal service will be provided on July 4.
Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet is now ready with summer clothing and will now be open on the last Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Closet is located at 103 N. Main (beside Cynthiana Presbyterian Church) and open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.
Free Computer Classes. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library is providing free computer classes. Call 234-4881 to find out about class offerings or visit the website at www.cynthianalibrary.org.
Foster Care Training. Benchmark Family Services is offering free foster parent training at their office located at 118 Dennis Dr., Lexington, Ky. For more information call 859-260-1412.
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets the second and fourth Thursdays of every month from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at Indian Creek Christian Church. Come join other moms for food, fun and fellowship. Childcare is provided. For more information call Cassie at 954-0571. Please note that when school is not in session, MOPS meeting is cancelled.
Cynthiana-Harrison County Parks and Recreation Committee meets weekly on Mondays at 5 p.m. at the Battle Grove Cemetery office. These meetings are open to the public.

Berry Lions Club meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at the Berry Lions Club Hall at 7 p.m. New members always welcome.
