THURSDAY, Dec. 15
Author Visit. Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Author visit by Rose McCauley and Deborah Cooper.

FRIDAY, Dec. 16
Cemetery Board Elections. Battle Grove Cemetery Co. Inc. will hold its election of board members on Dec. 16 from 3-4 p.m. at the office of Battle Grove Cemetery. Board members are elected to a 5 year term and require that voter be a lot owner, board members to be lot owners, in the event a person has multiple lots, only one vote per person regardless of the number of lots owned.
Blood Drive. Friday, Dec. 16 from 2-7 p.m. at Walmart on the KBC Bloodmobile. All donors will receive a $10 Walmart gift card.
Kiwanis Club Christmas Show. Friday, Dec. 16 at the Harrison County High School auditorium at 7 p.m. Proceeds from this program will help with the Christmas gifts they give out to less fortunate children, to the scholarship program, lighting of the Christmas tree and the open house at Battle Grove Cemetery. Tickets are $7.50 in advance for adults and children, at the door- adults, $10, children, $7.50, and children 5 and under are free. For more information call 859-234-8450.

Christmas on Pike. Rohs Opera House, Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at Biancke’s Restaurant.

SPECIAL NOTICES
Food Drive. Through the end of the year Kentucky Bank is collecting nonperishable food items for the Cynthiana Food Pantry.  Food can be dropped off Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday till 5 p.m. and 9 to 12 on Saturday.
KSP Holiday Food Drive. The Kentucky State Police is accepting donations of canned and non-perishable food items for its second annual “Cram The Cruiser” food drive through Dec. 12. The agency hopes to collect a state police cruiser full of food at its headquarters location in Frankfort and at each of its 16 posts throughout the state. The food will be distributed to local shelters, churches or other organizations serving those in need during the holiday season. Suggested donations include canned fruit and vegetables, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, chili or spaghetti sauce, brownie and cake mixes, coffee, powdered milk and juices. Last year KSP collected 21,586 pounds of food. Visit the KSP website at kentuckystatepolice.org for a listing of the post locations.
Clothing Closet. The Clothing Closet boxes for donations have been moved to the Food Lion parking lot. Clothes are still needed. The Closet is located at 103 N. Main (beside Cynthiana Presbyterian Church) and is open Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 3:30 p.m.
Historical Book Group. Thursday, Dec. 22 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the book Boone by Robert Morgan. Refreshments will be served the night of discussion.
Children’s Story Time. Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and at 4:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.
Free Computer Classes. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library is providing free computer classes. Call 234-4881 to find out about class offerings or visit the website at www.cynthianalibrary.org.
LVBPW Meeting. The Licking Valley Business and Professional Women’s meets the second Wednesday of each month at Biancke’s Restaurant at noon, with a guest speaker. Interested and new members are welcome.
Harrison County Fire Protection District meets at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, 113 W. Pike St., Cynthiana. Open to the public.
A Veterans Field Representative is available on the third Tuesday of each month at the County Sheriff’s office in Cynthiana from 1-4 p.m. This service is free of charge. Agent Orange registration is also available. For more information or to make an appointment, call 1-800-747-9963.
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) meets the second and fourth Thursdays of every month from 9 to 11:45 a.m. at Indian Creek Christian Church. Come join other moms for food, fun and fellowship. Harrison County Veterans are eligible for interment in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, Ky. Spouses and other eligible dependents may qualify for interment as well.
